Wow, I am sorry to hear this. My ex-wife lost my dog a few weeks ago. She brought her to the bar she owns all the time, and one night my girl wandered off. I am so lucky to have found her. Someone turned her in. She also lost our older Yorkie the exact same way, 4 months earlier. I did not find that one.
I did the same thing you did. 100's of flyers. Kijiji, Backpage, Craigslist, Pet Lynx and more. I put flyers up in local grocery stores. I also contacted a few dozen radio stations and a few put it on the air, most put it on their facebook or twitter.
I got her out of the pound about 4 days after she went missing but had I not found her I was going to go to tv stations as well.
I also offered $1000 reward, and would have probably doubled that easily.
I know what I did seems excessive but my dog is very small and she does not adapt well to social situations she is not familiar in. If someone had kept her, they would have been disappointed as she shuts down when around other people. She also has a sensitive stomach so to me it was urgent to get her back.
Someone suggested to you going back to the grocery store and that is exactly what I would do. People are creatures of habit and that woman who grabbed your baby probably has been there many times before. I would put up posters there, and also maybe hang around there the time your dog went missing. I know I go shopping around the same time consistently. Also maybe have the mangers talk to the staff to see if they could offer help.
And if your dog has special needs such as diet, medication, can't be around other dogs etc. mention it a lot. It might guilt the person who took Skittles, and she may not even realize she has somebody else's dog that cares so much.
I hope you find her and don't give up. I went through similar and it just destroyed me. But you have to keep looking and don't give up because your dog is patiently waiting for you to find her and guaranteed she is not giving up on you!
