Peyton had 5 puppy teeth that were retained and needed to be removed. Otherwise, his teeth were good, just needed the basic cleaning.

I will make sure that we evaluate this yearly from now on. I feel bad that Sophia had rotten teeth.

I am NOT pleased with my vet office. They had me bring them in this morning at 7:30. They called me at 3:00 to let me know they were doing Sophia's. Peyton didn't get his done until 4:00. I just don't understand why they have you bring them in so early if they are not going to be seen for so long. Keep in mind that they told me to hold food and water after midnight the night before...so they have been ALL day in a crate without food or water just waiting.

I brought in their own crate for them to wait in and they said they didn't want them in it, they would put them in their crates. Oh, and they have me take off their collars and harnesses and Sophia's dress of course, and then they actually put a leash thing around Sophia's neck and start to walk her away while she is pulling on it. I scoop her up and tell them to carry her because the leash pulling on her neck is not good for her trachea. Isn't this something that they should know???

I've been going to this vet office for 10 years. (This is the first dental though.) I like the specific vet doctor that we started using last year, but I don't think I like the practice as a whole. The cost for the cleaning, the extractions, the pain reliever (for both) and antibiotic (for Sophia only) was $862. That is just so much more than I would ever have expected. This needed to be done, and that is why we did it, but I think I am going to shop around for a vet that is more reasonable and that does things the way they should be done.
I posted on another thread about our dental and the cost. I took 3 of my dogs for dentals last week and paid $553, no extractions , 2 box's of heartworm meds, they do ears, toe nails and checked a couple of things i had questions about. On the other hand i took 1 of my dogs about a month ago for a dental, he had an infection and had to have an extraction, with antibiotics, this cost me over $400 for just him.
I agree that waiting so late in the afternoon to do the procedure was a little much, they did not even have much time to evaluate them after coming out of the anesthetic. The cost is so outrageous.
