I would choose to put a yorkie on a senior food probably at about 9 or 10 at most. It would be based on the fact that some disease processes occur in dogs, esp older ones, that do not show up on lab work. It is very possible that many yorkies on YT have kidneys that are starting to become inefficient with perfect labs. It's my preference to lower protein as a precaution. I suppose if one thinks kidney disease calls for high protein, then they wouldn't choose to do this. I would probably also lower fat.
So yes, I would feed a quality senior food in the near future.
