My Tibbe wasn't neutered until he was almost 1 year old and he has never - never - marked in the house - ever. He's the cleanest dog in the house I have ever had and when it is raining really hard in the morning after having slept all night, he has gone a total of almost 12 hours before relieving himself outside. He'd rather go outside as is the most natural method for the canine who loves to leave scent on its territory that matters - the outdoors where lots of other dogs and creatures can scent it. My little girl Yorkie that I had, Jilly, could not "hold it" as long as Tibbe can and I don't know if that was a male-female thing or the fact that she was only 3 lbs. and maybe her bladder was too small for her little kidneys or something. Still she was remarkably clean in the house but rain or not, when she woke in the morning, she had to go out right away - just couldn't hold it any longer. She was dancing and whirling around telling you she needed to go immediately whereas Tibbe is just Mr. Cool and will check out the window and if he sees rain, will usually just curl back up waiting for the rain to pass. And he never acts like he just has to go out really badly mornings. It seems like he has more capacity to hold himself and again, I don't know why that is.
