for peace of mind and to make sure she really called if I was you I would call myself. It's pretty easy now with goggle. Just look for animal shelters within about a 50 mile radius of where they live and phone them. Then put a posting on Craigs list with just an email as a contact. you don't have to use your own email just get a new one for this from some place like yahoo that is free. I would not bother calling the vets, because to me if I lost a dog the first places I would contact would be the shelters, and I guess look on Craig's list or any other free posting web site for that area. If someone was to contact you just send them to her address, they can say they found her info from one of the flyers she claimed to have put up. And the comment she made about someone passing through does not make sense, even if I "were just passing through" I would not continue on without trying to first find my pet and then when I eventually had to leave I would leave a lot of contact info. Also if she is truly trying to find the owner did she go to a location that has a scanner to check to see if the dog was chipped? if not than I don't believe they are really trying. Calling a radio station IMO is a waste of time, at best they probably make the announcement once or twice and there are a lot of radio station choices.
