No you don't, I didn't tape Miss Mias ears, I figured if they were meant to be they will be. I didn't have to tape Miss Minis ears, they came up, one week one came up, the next week the other! I kind of like the floppy ear look. Theres a recent thread about this...there are lots of floppy eared Yorkies here! I think they look beautiful either way!
