A dog doesn't have to be in a "bubble" in order to be protected from such predators. I don't walk my little one early in the morning or at dusk because of the owls. Those creatures are huge and will fly from tree branch to tree branch and watch as you walk along if you take a little animal out during their hunting hours.

Hawks are not as forward in their attacks when a human is around. Coyotes will come out in the daylight and are always a potential threat where I live. I don't keep Gracie in a 'bubble' but I do protect her from attacks that would end her little life very quickly. She loves to go for walks and so I walk her during the safer times of day and in areas that are less likely to have predators. It would be nice if she could run freely but for her own good she is not allowed to.

I can't imagine letting a little dog outside in an area that has potential predators particularly when other pets have already been killed by them. There are plenty of things a person can do to enjoy their pet without exposing them to a potential attack.
