Callie is VERY hard to get to take pills in food because she only eats small bites and this is the only thing I have found that always 100% works and it doesn't hurt her. |
I use the pill popper too as Tink has to take a large tablet without food. If you do this, get the kind they sell at the vet's, it has a rubber tip....the kind sold at some petstores are all hard plastic and can scratch the throat.
I also use plain, all meat chicken baby food, 2nd stage, Gerbers. I give a couple bits without the pill, then hide it in the 3-4 taste. And I always offer another taste after the one will the meds in it. I don't like mixing it a large amount of anything, then they have to eat too much to get the entire amount of medication.
Mine tend to want to chew the pill pockets, even when I use a small piece to wrap the pill in. As soon as they bite the med, out it comes, lol.
