Is there any way I can paint this thing? I love to customize things if at all possible....so painting is almost a must! LOL!

Eventually when we do build on (within the next year) including another room is a must!
What colors did you want to use? The bookcases I have found come in either black, white or that fake oak color. I am sure you could do a light sanding and then prime them (kilz is a good primer) and then paint. Since they won't be in a high traffic area that should work. I am going to paint the one old bookcase I am using white when I get a chance. I also want to use smaller dowels for the rods (the ones I had on hand were for adult size hangers) because the 7" doll clothes hangers fit better on the smaller rods.
