I almost lost my little Maltese to the same thing Beabble mentioned when she was 6 months old. Watch that she remains as active as ever and eating and drinking with no fever.

Call and make that appointment now. It will take a couple of weeks for them to have an opening anyway. Just pick a day that is good for you and ask for it.

If she goes outside be very careful. Male dogs can smell a dog in heat for miles away and will come looking for her. Where ever she pees will have the odor.

Most small dogs don't bleed an awful lot and she will want to keep herself clean. Hope all goes well for you.
