I almost lost my cat to it some years back. I also just lost my girl Dottie on 02/04/2012 from pyometra which was secondary to her uterus being full of cancer, she also had a mammary tumor. These are all thing which can be avoided if a female gets spayed. There's a chance they can still get Stump Pyometra, but the chances are way, way lower after being spayed, and so are mammary tumors. I wish for no one to ever feel the devastation and loss I am going through right now.... And as stated above, keep her away from all male dogs, don't let her out to go potty unleashed and unsupervised, and if you have male dogs in the house, crate and rotate. Good luck.
