I too would be very,
very wary about leaving them unsupervised with chews.
We had a miniature Schnauzer that we had to leave for a couple of hours, quite a long time ago. I had left a (quite large) chew to keep him occupied. For some reason I had forgotten something and had to pop back home after about 30 minutes.
Well thank goodness I did - the chew was semi-swallowed, sticking partly out of his mouth - and you could see the rest of it bulging down his throat...it was absolutely terrifying....there was no time to get him to the vet - he was gasping for breath - so I had to just gently pull and twist it out....
I did it, and he survived - but I would never,
ever want one of our dogs (or one of us) to go through that again....Sally + Harry x
