I am near-sighted (have been since I was 10) and all four of my kids wear glasses. It is normal for the optometrist to dialate your eyes at the first visit and every other year thereafter (at least for us). Aside from the drops irratating my eyes a little, the procedure doesn't usually bother me. My younger son stays very light sensitive for several hours afterwards. You should be back to normal by morning, if not I'd call the Dr. and let him/her know what is going on.
