I am so sorry about the cost of health care for us and our Yorkies. I am retired and live mostly on a fixed income. So I understand what you mean.
Pre opp tests & Dentals with no extractions are around $300 here in central Fl. But it varies with the Vet and area of Fl. you live in. My son's vet near Naples Fl. charged $550 but, the pre-tests were not included. My friend who lives in Tampa got a Dental for her Yorkie. it was $400 and included pre tests, take home meds, 1 extraction.
My only suggestion is to have a honest discussion with your Vet and see what happens.
