I hate to tell you all the threads I have read by people who have had their dog's hair cut badly or totally differently than they wanted. I have my own sad story. I guess we live and learn. I don't think the person you give your dog to at Pet Smart is the same person who actually grooms the dog. If it is then they are totally brainless.

Maybe you could interview your next possible groomer and ask for references. It's really hard to know who to trust because so many people only groom their pets when they are matted and needs to be totally shaved. Look for someone who grooms show dogs. They are usually very experienced and have attended an accredited school. Look for their license to groom and license to run a grooming shop. Ask about their experience with small breeds like Yorkies. Ask if they mind if you stay and wait for your dog. It is shameful to keep a dog there for hours when it only takes an hour to an hour and a half to groom a dog.
