Do you take the clip out at night time? You don't want to leave things in the hair for an extended period of time and make sure it isn't tight at all. Even with the bands you have to go back and loosen it up so it doesn't pull on the hair at all and never leave a clip or bow on when you are not there to supervise.
Some people use the tiny scrunchies to hold the hair up when not in a regular topknot. Never leave a clip or band in overnight.
