Please don't take this the wrong way; but, I have to ask, you have been on this forum for almost 3 years, drove 3 hours to pick up a pup that is less than 6 weeks old and yet had no idea he was to young to be away from his mother?

Okay, now because he is waaayyy to young to be away from his mother, despite what THEIR vet said, I would get this little one into YOUR vet pronto, I would go over all your concerns and get all the input you can from them and have them give him a good once over, put on a proper diet and supplements etc., This pup needs to be continuously monitored by you until he is atleast 10 weeks old..I would journal him daily.
