Males urinate to "mark" their territory. Other reasons are stimulated by smelling a female in heat, etc. Males urinate indoors on furniture, walls, floors, etc. Outside pretty much everywhere too.
Neutering does help to eliminate this.
I am not positive as to "when they begin", I believe 8 months give or take ??
