I think it's good to have a dog on puppy food while she is pregnant and nursing puppies. Once they puppies are weaned you can go back to an adult food. There are quite a few foods for small breeds. You can try some of those. A lot of them provide samples at store where you can purchase the foods. You can also check with the company to see if you can get samples from them. As someone suggested, Solid Gold and Wellness have small breed formulas, as does Innova and several others.
