One thing I can think of is if you don't know it is to get the address and number of any emergency vets in your area in case you vet is closed during an emergency. I can't tell you how vital this is. I have the emergency vet number and address on my refrigerator and in my cell phone.

I know it takes me about 20 - 30 minutes to get the emergency vet from my house. I had to rushed Brandi to the emergency vet twice in the middle of the night. Luckily for me, they were just minor issues but I didn't know that at the time.
