Ok ~ first of all ~ you ARE a crazy dog lady. You know that right?
I figure most of us on this board are so-classified by our friends and family.
And I agree - that dog should not have been out roaming freely with so many people and kids around. A few minutes to meet and greet - then away in their cozy crate or whatever. That's what we do when there are just too many people and/or young children. As the homeowner - I am responsible for what happens in my house - so I'm going to make sure my dogs are not mis-handled to the point that a bite could happen.
Also, the parents should have stepped in - but if they were busy talking to other friends/family - then I could see where the kids could have gotten too rough with no one supervising.
Luckily, nothing bad happened but it could next time. And then the dog will be classified as a biter; a problem; vicious, etc.
