Welcome to YT. I agree you got good advice. Most good breeders do retire their females around age 5. And good breeders arrange for a spay before, placing them in a forever home. Unfortunately not all breeders have excellent ethics, like our own Carman. She is right about the pre- surgery labs too. You don't know her history compleatly, and labs are agood way to find out about any health issues she may have. I will keep her on my prayer list for Feb. 24th.
