Default Inexperienced stud dog.

Inexperienced stud dog!

We have waited two long years now to finally have a litter with our gal Ruby. After the first male we found, was tested, papers signed and ready to go. I was very disappointed when our plans fell through. He had shown signs of liver disease, so the vet suggested having him neutered. When the test came back neg (-). it was too late.

So my search continued. Until we came across the right AKC male to pair her with.

Well its time... shes ready, in standing heat ready to be breed.

This is day one:

The first try the little guy went right to it, but missed her totally. He stood there fully exposed with a look of shock.

Second try: I put them together an hour later after keeping them separated, and nothing. They pranced around and never got to it.

Ive never had a problem before with our breeding pair. We had four wonderful, healthy litters. But we also had our own stud. After spaying our female and than got Ruby we found that our stud would have been too large for her. So we had him neutered.

Here is the situation. The house is full of people and three other dogs. Two tvs going, dogs barking and the cage I set up for mating is in the main traffic area. Could this be part of the problem?

Please tell me what can I do differently to assure a successful tie between them?
