I have only used Frontline Plus on my cats. I live in a wooded area and my cats love to go out in the woods but the last three years we have had an awful tick problem. The Frontline Plus did nothing to the ticks. We still had fully engorged ticks on our cats. It's so disgusting. I had to meet them at the door and run a flea comb through them to get the loose ticks off them during the worst of the season. I also would have my tick puller handy.

I only walk Gracie in unwooded areas and away from the tall grasses where the ticks like to lay in wait of a body. I still would check her as soon as we came back in.

The Frontline did kill fleas but the ticks are immune to anything I think. If your pup is having that kind of reaction I would try a different brand and leave off the tick preventive since it doesn't really work anyway. Just keep him out of any tall grass and run a flea comb through him when you bring him in. Oh, I didn't check where you live but ticks can be in sandy areas also. We don't have sand here but some areas do.
