Well, first of all...you're flying the wrong way
Having two kids in college I know that March is SPRING BREAK time, so you're supposed to be flying from Detroit TO Fort Myers!
I've flown Delta to and from Detroit with a yorkie ALOT and they've always been great. Never had any issue to do with the dog, just sometimes issues with flight delays which resulted in missed connecting flights.
