Y don't you return it i had a similar problem .... I bought one and it was way too thick, I would try to grab my hair and Boink! My head would get hit!!! So I returned it! I have now a revlon it is very skinny small like 3/ or something, but it has some type of material on the sides so you can put it on the bed on table and nothing happens even on the carpet which is a no no..... it has a on & turbo heat switch w/ a dial for 1-20 or 25 .... it's under $15-$20... It heats REALLY good and you can do your hair really quick!!!
