When Dh and I lived in an apt I used Astro Turf! You can buy it at Home Depot or Lowes.

That is what I used, I bought a piece and set it on the patio with a little palm tree on the side. Peanut loved it- It really worked for us- I had no problems with him not using it. Once a week I would just hose it off to get the smell out.

I put a little tree on the turf so it gave Pnut something to hike his leg on....

It worked great for us- it is far cheaper than those boxes and you can customize the size you want!!
