I dont know why they do it but Joel does the same thing with everyone in the house, and my brothers jack russel also did it so I think its normal. Kind of like my guinea pigs, when I try to pick them up they act like im trying to murder them lol, but once I get them they love being pet and held. Maybe it has to do with them being in the wild and there instinct to run from bigger things, lol i dunno. Also the few times Joel is still when I pick him up I say "pick up" so he knows what he needs to do to be picked up, he's been doing a little better from it.
