I think you did what any person who is concerned about other animals would do or at least I would hope they would do. Some groomers do hold the hair under the chin and its supposed to keep the dog from pulling and stuff but I imagine if the dog continues to pull and scream they need to let lose and take a minute or two or just use a different approach. It is possible the dog was just a screamer to my moms beagle screams when anyone looks at his mouth except my dad, when we first took him to the vet my dad stayed in the waiting room and me and my mom took him back and when the vet went to just look at his teeth he was screaming like he was dying but there was nothing wrong with him and my dad came back and said hey what are you doing to my dog and had to show the vet his teeth lol.
