Our old man 2-bits I have said in several threads that we have a large mixed breed dog that is 15 1/2yrs old. We have known that the day was coming that we would have to make that "oh so hard" decision. Before Christmas,we told our family that they needed to try to prepare their hearts for the inevatable. It has been so hard to watch the big guy (70lbs in his youth) to become a mere 50lbs,not wanting to eat,not wanting to walk because it hurts, not able to really see us,not able to play. He is beginning to have kidney failure and Saturday he had a nose bleed. So tomarrow is the day. The people at our vets office are so kind and loving. There will be noone else there but us and the staff. I already gave them his information and they told me to not try to pay when we left,to take care of that when I felt I could come back.
I said that we would not do this until I looked in his eyes and he let me know that it was time. I made that apt. last Friday, our entire family was here Sunday and each of the children got to have a moment with him. He has had a truely ruff weekend.
I need a hug!! Im having a tuff time being strong for my 16yr old.DD,2-bits has been here almost her entire life. He has been here half of our marriage. My husband named him 2-bits because he said that was all he was worth. 2-bits comforted my son (now 18) every 2hrs for 2yrs when he was so sick and had to be still for breathing treatments,he kept my DD (now 16) from escaping the house and yard when she was 2 and 3,he has guarded my house and been my alarm system,he has inspected every worker that has ever come to my house and even followed them around if he didnt trust them around his mommie. He pottie trained the 3 poodle puppys that I brought home 10yrs ago and allowed them to crawl on him and chew on him. There will NEVER be another dog and friend like 2-bits.
