My Link is 6 months old and im and proud to say he hasn't had and accident in a few weeks now. He whines in the morning to go out...during the day if he wants out he will go sit at the door patiently if i don't see him sitting there he will come and give me a little whine and go back to the door and scratch it to let me know...I gotta go mommy. When he wants back in he scratches. Good luck and I hope he gets the hang of it soon!
