Yes, we got on of these for Harry for when we first brought him home. And he did exactly the same thing
We tried
everything - including of course catching his pee on a pee-pad and putting the 'scent' on the grassy thing (by the way, have you tried that?!!?).
We tried only pottying outside, and saying "good wee-wee" when he performed. And then tried transferring him to the grassy thing while that was happening - but he just stepped off it, and onto the grass aaargh!
So, in the end, we just let him potty on the grass outside - and he ended up actually shredding the grass peepad and I threw it away!
I'm sorry if this is a rubbish reply - but that's what happened with us....Good luck! Sally + Harry
