I prefer to do labs when they have signs like his...often you can catch things before you actually see them in the pup. They can go downhill so quickly.
Yeah, I was wondering/questioning the same thing. The vet said that he chooses 1 test first and then another. He only gives enough meds to stop the vomiting but not to mask other symptoms. He did tell me that he'll do an xray first to make sure there is nothing glaringly obvious wrong. Then he gives the meds. If the dog throws up at all after taking the meds, to bring him back immediately and they will do blood tests. Dexter did not throw up again all day, he had a little bit of diarrhea through out the afternoon.

Last night he slept through the night, and today he is back to normal. Eating, drinking, active, playing, completely normal. Guess my little guy just wanted to throw another wrench into my week! I'm so relieved he is good though!

Im not one to panic at the first sign of throwing up, but at about the 10th, and then not eating, yes I get my boys into the vet right away.
