We got our W-2s this past weekend....and I went ahead and filed mine via TurboTax. Within an hour they both came back Rejected with a code R0000-902. I called the IRS and the guy checked my info. and said, yes, someone else has already filed with MY Social Security Number.
I now have to paper file and send it along with an identity theft affidavit from the IRS website. He said it is happening, a LOT!!
I immediately checked my bank.... my credit reports, etc. Everything looks okay.
He told me to go ahead and file a complaint with the FTC and the Social Security Administration. - What a pain..... but I suppose it could be worse!
Has anyone else had this happen or know of anybody who has?
