| Formal Introduction: Bonnie Lane I know many of you don't know me, I use to post a lot when Gracie Ruth and Yogi were pups. But life has taken over and I have very little free time anymore and when I do, I want to spend it with the kids. Some of the "older" members may remember me. I do check the board often, but usually only have time for a quick glance.
But I thought it was about time that I formally introduce our newest addition to the clan. Bonnie Lane join us last April. She has been rehomed several times and we are working hard through her issues to make sure this is her furever home. She and DH butt heads sometimes and he get frustrated with her. But he realizes that her baggage comes from the time she spent in The Mill having puppies and fighting for her life. The old softy sheds a tear or two when he thinks about what she must have gone through there. I love how my DH loves our kids.
She's lost her left eye, had her tongue cut pretty bad, has slight LP's in both knees, she wants to lick everything/one all the time, is constantly hot, drinks water like a fish when she gets anxious and barks up a storm when she's excited. But her main issue is Gracie. She has some female aggression issues that have gotten much better since we had her spayed, but there are times she just tries so hard to pick a fight with G. Luckily for us, G could care less and is not at all intimidated by her. She gives Bonnie the same grief that she gives the boys and she’ll give Bonnie a wide berth when she realizes it’s a time Bonnie is really looking for a fight. Both girls consider it their jobs to alert the household to “danger” and it’s then that they come together as a team. They’ve had a couple of tiffs but they are getting fewer and farther apart. Lately I’m having to correct G for pushing Bonnie’s buttons as much as I have to correct Bonnie for focusing on G. sigh…girls…boys are so much easier. lol
Bonnie loves little cubby holes and has claimed a spot on the bottom shelf of the bookcase that’s in the kitchen. The kitchen corner is another of her favorite places.
She makes my heart sing when she goes outside barking and running around the yard, just enjoying life. And my heart just breaks when I see her ‘act normal’ and just chill with the other kids. I’m finding them all sleeping together on the couch or in one of the beds more and more and I’m hoping that simply with more time she’ll get more relaxed and will truly find her spot.
She’s not our first rescue, but she’s the one with the most issues. Her heart is pure gold and she tries so very, very hard to please us. You just can’t help but love her when you see her sweet little face look up at you with pure adoration. Anyway, this is her short story and formal introduction to the board. I don’t know when her birthday is, but she will be celebrating her 1st Gotcha Day with us in April.
