Well I have four Yorkies and I always just keep their bangs cut. But when we got Ruby I swore I would keep her hair long and have her wear a top knott. That was until she kept putting them out. I used a verity of different thinks to try to keep it in. Most she was able to get out. So, I tightened them (mini ponytail holders) and that was a disaster.
She pulled 80% of her hair out. So, no more top knott for now. I had to cut it to give it fresh start and grow out even.
