Ouchies! I have a herniated disc in my lower back and although it is bothersome at times, I can't even imagine the pain you must be going through. As far as sitting - I agree with the OP, try finding a "donut" pillow as those really do help take the pressure off the tailbone.
As far as playing with your babies.... Jack has a stuffed penguin with a squeaker in it (we loving named him "Chilly" as in "Chilly Willy the Penguin") Jack will play in bed with us. If I am laying on my side of the bed, I will toss Chilly into the air and Jack will catch him, shake him back and forth like terriers do and then bring him to me so we can start the process over again. The other thing we will do in bed, we have a little blanket for Jack and sometimes I will move my hand underneath the blanket. He thinks its an animal or something and tries to attack it. I know its probably not the best thing to teach him, but it does help get rid of some his pent up energy.
