Definitely, at 8 weeks, make sure he eats often...especially if he plays hard. Someone already mentioned Nutrical, too...for "in case" but food (prevention) is better whenever possible.
Is the floor in the playpen cold, by any chance? If so, you might want to find a way to warm it up. He might be getting a chill through his feet. At 8 weeks, he will still need to have a warm space. He would normally still be snuggling pretty close to dam and litter mates. You might also look into heating the space he occupies...just for him. Also, check to make sure it is not drafty.
