ZoE acts like that after my kids have been home for a weekend (or break) and then go back to college. She looks for them for days after they leave. By the time ZoE seems to forget about them and not look for them anymore, one or both kids come home again. My daughter will be home this coming weekend, so next week, we'll be going through it again.
