We have not had a case of Lepto in southeast Texas in at least 12 years, so we do not get it....most of the vets down here do not give it unless you specifically ask for it. I advise all my buyers NOT to get it, unless it is prevelent in their area, and if they DO get it, have the vet give Benadryl inject. 15 minutes priort to the Lepto, and stick around the vet for at least 20-30 minutes following the injection. Anaphylactic shock /reaction can kill your baby before you even get out of the parking lot at the vet! I was unfortunate enough to see it happen when I worked for a vet. So down here, where the disease is essentially non existant, it is a not even considered by most. |
