Your doing fine, Its just gong to take time for him to get use to it. Also be sure that he has had a chance to empty his bowls before putting him in his cage or that will only cause issues with potty training.
Try to put a light weight cover over the cage. One that blocks his view of everything going on. That usually will help to calm them down. You may also want to try to get him excited about going into his cage with some hype making the cage sound like the place to be. Make sure he has a stuffed animal that is simular to his size. * Preferable one that you got from the breeder with mothers scent on it. If not get an article of your clothing one you dont need and wear it for a few days or nights to bed and put that in the cage with him. It will give him a cense of security.
