Naming animals here is a big ordeal and it often takes me anywhere from a few days to a week to pick the perfect name. It took me 2 weeks to name my first horse (Apache) and my GSD (Sophia).

I got Hope a few months after my first dog ever was hit by a car. It was a very hard time for me, I was pregnant, I had just moved into my now hubby's family's house and my girl was my best friend when she was hit. My father in law was threatening to not let me keep her inside (I have a heated kennel outside) and so when I brought her inside, he lectured me a while, then asked her name and so I said "hope" b/c there's always Hope you will change ur mind... And so he did... (though I would have snuck her in, he NEVER would have known the way our house is, and with how little she is)

Bambi is short for Bambina Bella. I was thinking of keeping with the "Hope Faith Love" theme and already had a Faith, so trying to find "Love" in another language that fit her, I played around with an english-italian translator (since my family derives from italy) and came up with beautiful baby girl instead. ( she almost was named Alice after my favorite charactor names in 2 movies) I even had a list of about 15 names I liked that I would edit every so often, I knew I was keeping her from the time she was born, so it really took me about 7 weeks to name her... the longest it's ever taken me. And then her name wasn't even on my list!

And Kayla is my daughter's pup, so Christmas morning, we asked her what she wanted to name her puppy and she said "kayla" (I have a friend named Kayla and my daughter really likes that name and most of her toys get named Kayla). So in essence, Kayla was the easiest of mine to name...
