I would take him out frequently and give him a treat immediately after elimination. The transition will take time and the key here is persistence. Accidents will occur unless you can watch him like a hawk. It also helps to potty train him on command. That's what my girls do. Initially they are indoor potty trained (and they still are) however they understand the word "potty" and will do their business outdoors if needed. It takes practice and I'm sure you'll find a method that works best for your Sampson. Good luck.
