Actually it seems to me that the Husband is at fault. He is the adult and should be teaching the child respect for other living creatures. He sounds like a failure of a husband, father, human being. He was looking for an excuse to get rid of the dog and set the boy and the dog up to fail, what a jerk. I love the idea about having your friend be a godmother. I am glad the dog is with you now and your friend gets to visit. Better out of that house because who knows what it might have escalated into for that poor dog.
