That's is a really tough spot to be in. Is it possible for her to visit Louie more often, and maybe make her like his godmother? Maybe it's just crazy dog lady talk, but my baby has his Nina (Spanish term of endearment for godmother) and even my friend who doesn't care for her dogs has one too.
They can have special play dates, so she can enjoy Louie and know he's loved and cared for at your house.
