Default I need to vent....

Okay, so this gets a bit complicated, but I work with the person who had to give Louie up to the no-kill shelter I got him from. She actually wanted to just give him to me, but since she had originally adopted him from there, it was part of her contract that he be given back to them if she needed to let him go. Anyway, she arranged for me to be the person who adopted him.

She came over to visit him today because she misses him and the entire story of why she had to give him up came out. Basically, her husband is a jerk. Apparently he never liked Louie (to which DH responded "how is that possible? Look at his little face!") and while my coworker was at work (she works evening shift) he would pretty much just ignore him. She has been trying for 2 years to teach her son not to get too rough with Louie, but, in her words, he has no fear. So even when Louie would growl because he was scared, her son wouldn't back off unless she made him. She said that it would be fine if her husband would just pay attention to their son and keep him from being rough with the dog, but he just kept letting it happen until the other day, when Louie finally bit him. Then, this guy calls her at work and says "Your dog bit our kid, so I guess he's gotta go." She said he actually seemed happy about it, which is mean because she LOVES this dog. He's a great dog, and she even said that it was totally her son's fault. I feel so sorry for her because every time she talks about him, she starts crying.

I just don't understand some people. He's a great dog, and he has been so well behaved since we got him. I guess I feel bad too, because I am so happy to have him, but it's at my friend's expense.
