huh, i hadn't heard about this yet so i just googled it. Seems Novartis was having issues with some of their human medications at one particular plant which also happens to be the plant that makes the heartworm pills. So they won't be available until further notice. Since this was just announced you may be able to get a script for it from your vet. this will allow you to go to another vet in town to see if they have any left in stock or you can order it online from 1800petmeds.com or similar site.
