I 100% encourage microchip implantation. The benefits and positives of microchips far outweigh the possible negatives.

While ID tags are nice to have...they are in no way comparable to a microchip. A great example is something HollyandMommy (member) posted. It's a long story, but to make it short and sweet; her dog was declared dead by a malicious, mischievous AC worker. The dog was found a year later; very much alive. The microchip is what brought Armani back to the member. Another situation that takes place ALL too often is that dogs are stolen, and ID tags are removed along with collars...then you can permanently say goodbye to your pet.

I strongly encourage you to get Trixie microchipped whilst she's in for her dental.
