Question Never Brush a Yorkie's Hair when it's Dry??

Hi all,

I've heard from several people, as well as read on several internet sites that you should never brush a Yorkie's hair when it's dry.

Can someone (anyone) explain to me the reason(s) for this? As much as I'm hearing it and reading it... I still can't find a reason that sounds the least bit legitimate, and certainly none that make any sense. lol!

I'm sure there IS a legitimate reason for not brushing it when it's dry...but I'd like to know what that reason is.

Thanks

PS - Bella does just fine without any sort of brushing (she's not full Yorkie and still very young. Her hair never tangles.) However, we are getting an AKC Yorkie in March...and Bella's hair I'm sure will grow as she ages...so I'd like to learn ALL I CAN about grooming. I won't be taking my pups to a groomer...ever. I want to do it all myself, so I want to know the answer to this question...before my curiosity keels me over.
