A friend of mine, whose father used to be in the plant nursery business in Lousiana swears by wax myrtle. He insists that planting it in your yard and using the leaves and branches it would combat mosquitoes and fleas, much like citronella does. I've never tried it myself, but if the critters get to be too much this summer, I may give it a go!
